Bruises

A bruise is a blue, yellowish and/or dark purple mark on your skin that results from broken blood vessels below the skin. The blood vessels below the skin break, causing the blood to leak under the skin which leads to the skin discoloration above the skin. The area of the body that has the bruise is usually painful and it can affect the mobility of the body area.

Bruises are usually caused by trauma to the body. Your body hits an object and/or an object hits your body. Sometimes your body bruises when you are taking blood thinning medicine. If you are taking blood thinning medicine and experience bruising you should contact your healthcare professional.
